Product Description
This kit has been specifically designed for small
and simple implementations that do not require
long cable runs. Interior and exterior antennas
should be separated about 20 feet to avoid
oscillation between the antennas. See the
installation guide. Installation of exterior and
maybe interior antenna is required.
The Wilson 801245 SOHO Kit is compatible with all
US 800MHz and 1900 MHz cellular carriers except
Nextel/iDEN. This cellular kit improves both voice
and data cellular communications in your home,
office, RV or motorhome. The dual band 50/50 dB
amplifier unit is primarily designed for room
installations.
This kit comes with your choice of outside antenna.
The Wilson 301101 32" Trucker antenna comes
with 12' of RG-58 low loss cable. The 301133 21.5"
RV Trucker comes with 13.5' of RG-58 low loss
cable. The 6" mag antenna, used on the inside,
comes with 10' of RG-174. So you are starting out
with about 12' of cable for your outside antenna and
10' of cable for your inside antenna. Each antenna
needs to be connected to the SOHO amplifier.
One additional 20' white LMR240 coax extensions
is provided. Excess coax creates signal loss. The
coax extension may be used with either antenna.
The amplifier needs to be placed near a wall plug
for power or power needs to be brought to it with an
power extension cord.
Note: The inside and outside antennas should be
separated about 15' to 20'. This may vary
depending upon signal strength and obstacles.
This is to prevent the two antennas from oscillating.
If you find your needing long coax runs then you
may want to look at the SOHO Plus or Max Kit that
uses low loss coax.
Antenna Information
The 301101 Trucker / 301133 RV and 301113 Mini
mag were chosen for this kit for a couple of
reasons. They are excellent performing antennas
and they are dual-band. The 6" magnet antenna
works well indoors. It can be placed on the celling,
on a table, or on a book shelf behind a plant. A very
simple 3.5" white metal ground plane (small metal
disk) has been provided for the inside antenna.
This ground plane serves two purposes; First it
provides an easy way to mount the mini mag. The
metal disk can be attached to the ceiling, a table, a
shelf, etc. using the supplied Velcro. The magnet
on the antenna will attach to the 3.5" disk. Second,
the 3.5" metal disk severs as a cell signal ground
plane for the antenna to optimize its performance.
