Why should I not use a glass mount antenna with a mobile wireless amplifer?
|
Mobile wireless amplifiers have two antennas, one outside and the other inside the
vehicle. These antennas need a certain amount of separation or oscillation will
occur between them and the amplifier will not function properly. Wilson wireless
amplifiers are designed to shut off if oscillation occurs. This protects the cellular
network form noise and oscillation.
When a roof mount antenna is used, then metal in the vehicle roof helps shield
both antennas from each other producing separation. When a glass mount
antenna is used, there is little or no barrier between the inside and outside
antenna and the potential for oscillation is very high. The only time that a glass
mount antenna might work is when there is more than 8-10 feet between the inside
antenna and the glass mount antenna.
Powerful Signal always recommends that a roof antenna, either a magnet or NMO
mount, be used with a wireless mobile amplifier.
